Take Me Out Skiing

One of the most famous ancient clay figures in Japan. It was so named because the expression of its characteristic eyes resembles a pair of snow goggles. Mainly excavated from the Tohoku region, many of these were found with a leg or arm cut on purpose. The figures represent women and might have been used to pray for safe childbirths, prosperity of offspring, and abundant blessings from nature.
