This artwork depicts Sendan Kendatsuba, who exterminates evil spirits that bring harm and illness. Originally a music deity from India, he became one of the Eight Legions serving Taishakuten. In this scene, moved by the sorrow of mothers grieving for their children, Sendan Kendatsuba beheads fifteen demons said to harm unborn babies or cause illness in infants, and impales their heads on his trident.
