Enlightenment in Bloom

This painting illustrates a story of Zen monks from the Tang dynasty. It is based on the tale of the monk Reiun, who attained sudden enlightenment upon seeing peach blossoms in bloom. The composition is striking, featuring a grand waterfall at its center and the solitary figure of the monk standing amidst rugged cliffs.
